ON “I SAW YOU GOING OUT TODAY”
Single on the album Let's Talk (2025)

Highlight: Montreal-based contemporary folk artist Brian Campbell continues his string of poetic, emotionally resonant releases with “I Saw You Going Out Today,” out now.

…Set to a delicate nylon-string guitar and enriched by Erich Kory’s cello, the track reflects the joyful unease of lasting love, asking whether the comfort and safety we feel in someone’s presence are real or just other “flights of fancy that swiftly die / that come from voice and guitar.”

… With “I Saw You Going Out Today,” Brian Campbell once again proves that quiet truths—delivered by voice and guitar—can speak the loudest.

ON “PLANET ON FIRE”
Single on the Album Let's Talk (2025)

Highlight: "With the climate crisis reaching a crucial crossroads, Montreal-based folk singer Brian Campbell has penned a passionate call to do whatever one can to save the planet... "Planet on Fire", a song that is incredibly easy on the ears despite its message being hefty and heart-wrenching.

Q & A ON BRIAN AND HIS CREATIVE PROCESS, VALUES, ETC.

HighlIght: “Some of my songs – “Planet on Fire” is one example – are didactic and even heavy-handed in their message. In others, the “message” is more implicit. But in all of them I’d say what’s expressed is that life is worth living and celebrating in its highs and lows; that a well-expressed downer is an upper; that life is ultimately an affirmation against death, even as death is integral to life; that whatever else, poetry and song are expressions of life, freedom, compassion, affirmation, abundance, even – one could argue especially - when they are protests against the denial those things.”

ON A CRYSTAL RIM (EP, 2024)

Highlight:

Brian Campbell fuses poetry and peace on his meditative and hopeful new EP A Crystal Rim.

The Montreal singer-songwriter digs deep to find inspiration from his topsy-turvy life as a poet — and his practice as a Buddhist — with this immersive and hypnotic five-track document. The EP features adaptations of poems by the renowned Sufi poets Rumi and Hafiz, as well as an original composition inspired by Campbell’s faith. With life-affirming messages rooted in the allegories of famous poems, A Crystal Rim encourages listeners to sit with the work, absorbing the richness of both the timeless words and the circular melodies found in his folk-based sound.

ON “ONLY BREATH”
single on the EP “A CRYSTAL RIM” (2024)

Highlight: "Brian Campbell embraces the ethereal nature of existence in his meditative new single and video Only Breath.

Albert Einstein once summarized his best understanding of the universe’s inner mechanism as “spooky action, at a distance.” In Only Breath, Montreal singer and song-poet Campbell is taking audiences on a transcendental field trip, serving as fearless inner sherpa to the great spooky beyond."
